Community Night Bowls

               WINNERS ARE GRINNERS

Starting around October each year and continuing for about six weeks there’s something new and popular going on in Crows Nest.  For many years we ran a programme of night bowls for club members and beginners, but it failed to launch with any great success.   The idea was shelved and regarded as not very appealing for a little country club such as ours.

It took us a while to understand that non-bowlers or those who just wanted to venture out on a week night, have some fun, and not take the game or themselves too seriously were out there in the community but we weren’t reaching them.  So we had to change!

These days our Tuesday Night Burger Bowls, (so nick-named by the locals who play because we’ve combined tasty hamburgers as part of the evening line-up), are very popular with a growing number of Crows Nest regulars out for a bit of fun and a game with friends.  It doesn’t matter if some teams are “stacked” because the winning prize is always drawn out of the hat.  Everyone has an even chance of success.  The burgers are ready from about 6pm, thirty minutes later cards have been called, mats are down and we’re off.  And the raffle prize is always a cracker!

We’ll supply the bowls, mats and jacks – all you need to bring is yourself, some soft soled shoes and an appetite for something new.  Watch the local High Country Herald for advertisements usually in October.

Twelve dollars for green fees and a tasty barbecued burger – what else do you need for a good night out?  Or, you can come along for a burger and just watch without paying the green fee.  Please yourself – it’s a good night out either way!

Big Bowls Programme

We’re a small club with a big bowls programme!

When our season is in full swing, sometimes we play every day except Monday and Tuesday.  During this couple of days the grass gets a break while our greens staff are busy maintaining the playing surface as well as the floral surrounds.
